An Eight Class Zoom Series

Tuesdays, October 18, 25; November 1, 8, 15, 29; December 13

7:00-8:30 p.m.

Zoom Only

CLASS INFO

In this eight-class series, we will take up the Sixteen Zen Bodhisattva Precepts and examine how they manifest in our lives – and how they can help us close the gap.

Sensei Mukei and Dharma-Holder Gessho will be leading the introductory precept class this autumn, and anyone who is just beginning an exploration of the precepts is encouraged to register for and attend their class; this class is limited to those who have already taken the introductory precept class series and/or those who have received Jukai, either at ZCLA or elsewhere.  It assumes you are already familiar with the precepts.

NOTE:  This is not a class for the dilettante.  I ask you to show up fully, to plunge into the exploration fully, and to do the homework (reading, writing, etc.) between classes.

Our basic text will be the ZCLA Precept and Jukai Handbook; we will use the actual jukai ceremony as a jumping off point.  However, I also ask every participant, in addition, to commit to reading one of the many good books on the precepts that are available – a book you have not read before!  (I am doing this as well, FYI.)  This is an exploration that is intended to expand and deepen our relationship to the precepts, so I ask that you take on the commitment to encounter them through the eyes of someone new.

Among the available books:

Robert Aitken, The Mind of Clover

Reb Anderson, Being Upright

Koshin Paley Ellison, Wholehearted: Click here to purchase from ZCLA bookstore.

Cheri Huber, Good Life

John Daido Loori, The Heart of Being

Diane Rizzetto, Waking Up to What You Do

This class is limited to those who have already taken the introductory precept class series and/or those who have received Jukai, either at ZCLA or elsewhere.

$20 per class for Members; $30 per class for Non-Members
