Preceptor Elizabeth Jiei Cole

Betty Jiei Cole began her Zen practice with Robert Aitken Roshi in 1979, drawn to his strong integration of Zen practice and realization with writing and actions in ecology, peace and restorative justice. She came to him from Quaker work with the American Friends Service Committee and a sense of spiritual crisis in the midst of struggles in the peace movement.  Her spiritual path continues to be enriched by her involvement with the Zen Center of Los Angeles, continuing dialogue and action especially in racial awareness, human rights and deep ecology, and life at All Saints Episcopal Church. She has led the Monday Night Meditation group there as a ZCLA satellite group for the last 24 years.

The Zen Center policy is to turn no one away for lack of funds. If you have concerns about payments click here to request Dharma Training Fund. If you have any other questions, please contact Myoki at programsteward@zcla.org.
