EVENT INFO

Samu (work practice) traditionally refers to physical work needed to maintain the Zen temple. Fushinzamu (working together on a common project) is an integral part of practice. To begin the year, we will cook, clean, pull weeds, dust altars and otherwise maintain ZCLA’s temple and grounds. All these tasks are done in the spirit of generosity or dana paramita. During Fushinzamu we bring the concentration and awareness cultivated in zazen into our activities, seeing that there is no separation between meditation and activity. The temple gates are everywhere. It is also a chance to work shoulder to shoulder with other members and non-members, and thus brings the Sangha closer together. Come for all or part of this morning as we engage in this age-old group practice, taking care of work needed around the Zen Center. All are welcome to attend.
